53rd running of the Sheepshead Bay Stakes,at Belmont

#33. Sheepshead Bay.Gr 2, 1&3/8 mi,  inner turf at Belmont for F&M. Selections are 4-5-3-6-1.#1&#3 should lead. #4 Hit It Rich is 4/1 in ML, is a grey/roan 5m who has won at Gr3, trained byShug McCaughey and to be ridden byJavier Castellano.  #5 Aruna is the only Gr 1 winner andthe classhorse of the field. It is Belm R8, post time 4.34.ET. and it is hot and sunny. A lot of rain during the week, but presume track will have dried out (not  run on main track for 20 years)

Race is named after the old track in Brooklyn, that ran from 1880 through 1910. Sheepshead Bay was closed down when the Hughes Ban eliminated all racing in New York in 1911 and 1912, and was never reopened.

Result:5-4-1-6 across the line but there was a protest and the official was 5-4-6-3, so although another second,I boxed the exacta, trifecta and first 4.

Monday is Memorial Day and sees three Grade 1's at Belmont.
