Weekend turf warrior

This holiday weekend (Happy 4th!) the highlight is the Gr1 United Nations at MTH Sunday. The premier turf race down the Shore has the likes of Main Sequence, Imagining, Big Blue Kitten and Twilight Eclipse engaged. RESULT In what was labeled an "upset", #3 BBK was too good. Settled rearwards outside one, in the Ramsey's white with red colors, and seen to be closing strongly from the 600 before the far turn, making up 5L in the stretch Tomorrow we have the two Gr 1 3yo invitationals at BEL as well as the 17th renewal of the Doc Penny Memorial at PRX ("Doc" was the long term chief vet at PRX). Disappointingly for the club there are only two 'raiders' apiece in the BEL Invitationals. In the Derby I think #2 Bolo could go fwd from gate 3 and be hard to catch. RESULT: Bolo did lead as I expected but despite getting away with cheap sectionals he threw in the towel before the turn and it was Force the Pass in the garden seat who got through on the rail then exploded away In the Oaks, the main 2 chances are undef. Lady Eli and Spanish Queen. RESULT: Lady Eli in the turquoise colors was outstanding. Incredible "Gr 1 acceleration" at the top of the stretch. She's now 8-8. What a wonderful horse. In the Penny it's Nellie Cashman or the chalk Coffee Clique. RESULT: the chalk won
