Saturday's 53rd running was a tricky affair for F&M, Gr 2 over 1 3/8 mi (2 turns) on the Belmont turf, with 5 of the 7 runners being imports. I went for one of them, #4 Cheetah (ML 6-1) a UK import having only 2nd US start. easy winner of an allowance last start, C. Clement is hot and ridden by G. Gomez. The only Gp 1 winner in field is the fav Hibayeeb, but only 3rd in an optional claiming last start.
she missed start a bit, settled last came widest at turn and rattled down outside for 3rd, with "be on me next start" written all over her. The fav Hibayeeb was in the garden seat and got the split on the inside leaving the far (home) turn and too strong. the 2nd place-getter also took the short route.
Belmont Stakes next weekend. here is Drosslemeyer #7 winning last years' Belmont, in the all-white settled in 6th, then 4 wide in backstretch & on the turn and too strong down the stretch
