The Ogden Phipps and 2 other grade I events

At Belmont, it is the 43rd running of the Ogden Phipps Hcp, $250K Gr 1 for F&M over 1&1/16 mi. Selection is #8 Payton D'oro at 8/1 on ML; bypassing Unrivalled Belle and Awesome Maria. At CD, is the $500K Stephen Foster Hcp, OH-I/1800, and selection is Crown of Thorns, 4/1 2nd fav on ML. The other Gr 1 is the 250K Vanity Stks for 3f at HOL. Results PD'O 2nd; COT unplaced.

Ogden Phipps was an American stockbroker, court tennis champion and Hall of Fame member, thoroughbred horse racing executive and owner/breeder, and an art collector and philanthropist who died in 2002. His most famous horses include Buckpasser, Personal Ensign, and Easy Goer, all of whom are in the United States Racing Hall of Fame. He never won the Kentucky Derby but came close twice. Stephen Collins Foster (July 4, 1826 – January 13, 1864), known as the "father of American music", was the pre-eminent songwriter in the United States of the 19th century. His songs include "Oh! Susanna", "Camptown Races" and "My Old Kentucky Home"
