R2KD: Spiral Stakes today and Sunland Stakes tomorrow

44th running of the Spiral on the ATW over 1&1/8 mi at TP in Cincinnati/Ky at 6.30 PM ET today. Kept playing the SHOWdown while out in Australia the last 3 weeks and I'm 1 of 119 people tied for 2nd, batting 9 for 10 (43 still alive, approx 1400 with 8 or fewer). It's a trickier affair today with a field of 12, many 1st time on synthetic. I'm going for #11 Metaboss, impressive winner of the El Camino Real on the Tapeta at GG last month. he's a closer but pace looks OK here. i have him 4/1 (same as ML), from #12 Dubai Sky 2nd and #9 Conquest Typhoon 3rd. i have MLF #1 Royal Son next, at 7/1 and have #2 Big Family for a real long shot. Tomorrow it's the eponymous Sunland Derby (1&1/8 mi, dirt) out of that NM track, at 7.40 PM ET (actually 5.40 PM MT). I tend to agree with the ML and also have #1 Firing Line on top narrowly from #2 Lord Nelson, but have #8 Tiznow R J third choice.
