Fort Lauderdale Stks (turf, 1700m) is R10 at Gulfstream Park

Saturday’s national stakes schedule is a busy one. Santa Anita’s Grade 2, $150,000 San Fernando is the highest ranked and richest race in the country, but Gulfstream Park offers a pair of Grade 3, $100,000 events, the Hal’s Hope (which marks the return of Jackson Bend) and the Fort Lauderdale. Tampa Bay Downs also has a $100,000 stakes doubleheader Saturday.

In the Fort Lauderdale Stkes (R10, 4:45 pm ET), should be a field of 12 and the selection is 10 Silver Medallion (Castellano/Pletcher, 4/1 in the ML)-8 Flat Out -9 Hollinger, with European import 5 Mutual Trust & 6 Mambo Meister for exotics. Don;t give the ex-NZ horse #11 Hoofit much of a chance.
Result 10-9-12; 1st/$9.8, box exacta $46.6 (2:1-1-0 .50; +5.8u/$4.9)

Tomorrow (Sunday) the feature race is the $150,000K Gp 2 Santa Ynez for 3f over 1300m at Santa Anita. Only a field of 6 but these are always tricky affairs at the start of the new season. My seletions are 2 Reneesgotzip -1 Madetoloveher-3 Rowdy Gal
Result 2-1-4; 1st/$4.0, box exacta $8.4 (3:2-1-0 .67; +7.8u; out $6.00; in: $13.8=4.60 per $2.00)
